My New Church Job

My New Church Job

‘And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.’ (Romans 8:28)

‘And no man taketh his honour unto himself, but he that was called of God, as was Aaron.’ (Hebrews 5:4)

I have been called of God, through the local Bishop to serve is children in the Halifax Ward of the church and the calling I have been asked to fulfill is, Ward History Specialist.

It sounds good doesn’t it?

It is a new calling, that has never been done officially before, however part of the work as been done partly by the Ward Clerk and partly by the Public Relations person. My new calling comes between the two and I bring together all aspects of their callings, bringing everything together and creating a Ward Journal, for want of a better way of putting it.

So, if the Ward members do something either within the Ward or as part of the community, or larger global community then I get someone to take some photographs and write up a short piece on the ‘Who, When, Where, What and Why’ of the activity. I then bring everything together, edit what needs editing and create a record of the event.

As with everything new right now things feel like I am in a dance with every Ward member, but no one actually knows the steps yet, but we will. I am excited and terrified at the same time, but one step at a time and I like little steps.

There also needs to be a record of all meetings; talks, prayers, hymns, etc. And a record of all callings and releases that happen in the Ward. All births, marriages and deaths too.

And while I have nothing to do, I have also been asked to put together a regular news letter, at least that one is up to me.

I need to learn the art of delegation ans quick.
